About me ~ Cath McCarthyMy home is in Westbury on Trym, in Bristol, where I have lived for most of my adult life. I spent my childhood in Uganda and Kenya and lived for a few years in Madrid in Spain.
I am a practising Catholic, active in my parish, the Clifton Cathedral Parish of Saints Peter and Paul, in Bristol. For a number of years I worked as the manager of a GP practice and developed their healthcare service within three local prisons. I'm married with four sons and two step sons, all grown up, so I have plenty of experience of the full spectrum of joys, uncertainties and traumas of family life. |

My training and certification
I am widely read and I have attended many retreats where I have received guidance and opportunities for my own spiritual growth. I have completed the full Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius in three stages.
I am a member of the Clifton Diocese Spiritual Directors Network.
I completed my training as a spiritual director in the United States at the Hesychia School for Spiritual Direction at the Redemptorist Renewal Centre in Tucson, Arizona. The training was ecumenical and multi faith so I am happy to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experience.
I hold an Honours degree in Psychology and have also trained and had many years’ experience as a relationship counsellor.
I have completed training in supervision at the London Centre for Spiritual Direction and I supervise some of the Spiritual Directors in the Clifton Diocese.
